IS IT ANXIETY?

I CAN FEEL MY PULSE THROUGHOUT MY WHOLE BODY WITHOUT TOUCHING MYSELF, I SHAKE ACCORDING TO MY PULSE. WHEN IM LAYING DOWN, EVERYTHING IS WORSE, I WOULD SHAKE MORE WHEN I LAY ON MY STOMACH. THE SHAKING HAS BECOME VERY SCARY BECAUSE I DONT KNOW WHATS CAUSING IT. ITS WORSE IN THE MORNING WHEN I JUST GET UP. ALSO, I NOTICED THAT I WOULD START SHAKING ALOT RIGHT WHEN I AM ABOUT TO FALL ASLEEP. I HAVE TO SLEEP ON MY BACK WITH MY HEAD PROPPED UP WITH 2 PILLOWS TO PREVENT THE SEVERE SHAKING THAT I WOULD GET WHEN I AM LAYING FLAT ON MY STOMACH OR SOMETIMES BACK. ANYBODY UNDERSTAND WHAT IM SAYING WHEN I SAY I SHAKE ACCORDING TO MY PULSE? ITS LIKE I CAN LOOK AT MY HANDS AND DETERMINE MY PULSE AFTER A MINUTE... PLEASE HELP ME AND TELL ME WHATS GOING ON!!!!!

I've been to the doctor 8 times or more in the last month for "anxiety" I've gotten pumped with drugs and sent home like its no big issue. Shaking, rapid heart beat, dizziness, feeling like if I fell asleep I wouldn't wake up the next day, ear pressure, massive headaches, irritability to where going in a restaurant it store would trigger sweating, heart palpitations, impatience, and my mind would go in a haze. This is an every day thing and honestly, im sick of it getting over looked. Myself, like many of you, feel like there's a different problem causing these symptoms and although we are told we are fine, we tend to not believe it. I've told therapists and medication aren't worth it. Especially for someone who has no health insurance. I pray daily that it goes away. I can never say that I feel fine throughout one day because I always have a symptom. Where the hell did my normal life go? And how does this tend to hit someone so bad and quick?

Anxiety is a horrible thing. I no a few tricks to stop it.if you feel like your about to die because your heart is beating fast or feel as if your about to pass out.quickly say to urself its just anxiety I need to relax.anxiety is inside of us we are bigger than it.we have to learn how to control it otherwise it will control u and turn ur life into nothing.I was in my room for two weeks I was so scared to even go outside.but one day I had the courage to say anxiety **** you and left my house. I'm not letting it control me no longer.if you want to live life better do what I did and say how much more worse could it be by going outside or hanging with them and if your scared to go out let your frends no what's going on it gets easier when u let out your problems. Hope this helped

this might be of some help to those who wake up shaking and at the same time find there heart rate abnormally fast. During the period of shaking - I found that if I counsciously twitch one (either one) of my feet, it sorta of help my mind take back control over the rest of my body (that seems to be shaking on its own accord). It make several minutes to work, but it seems to eventually work. When the shakes subside - then usually the accelerated heart rate does as well. Hope this helps!!

This is the first time I have been to this site.  I almost feel as though I am an expert on anxiety as I have been dealing with it for years.  Most of my anxiety is under control thanks to Prozac, but I do still get it at night.  I either get it while trying to fall asleep or after I have been sleeping for awhile.  The only thing that seems to help is taking Ativan before bed.  If I do this I never get anxiety during the night.  I also have a problem with a racing resting heart rate.  I don't get it as much as I did before I started taking Prozac, but when I do, I take a small amount of a beta-blocker which slows my heart rate down quickly.  I have seen a cardiologist and had several tests done.  But, besides minor mitral valve regurgatation, no doctor can seem to pinpoint what is causing my heart to race.  It could be anything from my underlying general anxiety disorder to hormones. The doctors advised to take the beta-blocker as needed and to excercise daily (aerobic).  I, too, tried Effxor and thought I was having a heart attack.  Zoloft and several of the other ssri's made me tired.  The Prozac was prescribed by a doctor who found that it works great for GAD and doesn't make me tired. I did have to take Ativan with the Prozac when I first started the Prozac as my anxiety was worse for the first couple days.  After that I was fine.  It felt great to feel "normal" again. If we only knew what causes cronic anxiety we could then tackle the cause, but for now, all we can do is treat it.  I know this is something that I will have for life.  After 1.5 years on meds I tried going off them.  Within 3 weeks I was feeling all the effects of cronic anxiety again.  I believe it's a chemical thing.  Hope this helps anyone with this same problem.  Good Luck :-)

Wow, I really like this thread!!! I feel trembles almost every morning. It feels like the trembling is coming from inside. It is more noticeable if I lay on my sides, and almost nothing or nothing at all of I lay on my back. More or less opposite to what I have read here, but none the less, the same.  Then I began to feel really nervous and anxious in the moring, that would subside later on in the morning.  My wife also tells me that I shake a leg while I am sleeping sometimes.
I now have dizzy (spacey) spells, that just come and go as the day goes by.
I had gall bladder surgery a year ago. Never experienced any of this until the surgery. I lost confidence, didn't want to do anything, suffered from fatique, lost wieght, etc. I have been diagnosed as having an inner ear thing (which the neurologist said can happen as a result of surgery, and carries the same symtpoms) to having anxiety, etc. etc. Every test imaginable has been done, all looking good!
I was on SSRIs, in particular Effexor, which increased every symptom that I had - so I quite.  I do take Ativan to help slow me down, and the Neurologist advised that Ativan will desensitize the nerves in the ear and will lessen the symtpoms. I must say it is working - is it because it is just simply reducing anxiety, or is it something to do with the ear. Still have various appointments to figure that out.
But I do notice that things are getting better, not so much dizziness, not trembling in bed as much, not as much anxiety...so is it just my mind, is it from the ear exersises I am doing for the inner ear thing, is it the Ativan, or is it because each week, the surgery that I had is further and further away!
But the trembling in bed was what was bothering me the most - interfering with sleep, which did not help. And beside, it is freaky

Thanks for the listen.
Regards

Yes, anxiety can do that. It can also make you "think" that you can feel it along with other things.

I felt my heart beating so bad once that I could not sleep for two days and the anxiety got so bad that my BP went up to 192/110 and I ended up having to take Xanax to bring it down.

Hi Teamflare.  Wanted to make some suggestions.  Anyone who has a pounding and elevated heart rate throughout the day and into the night should have some things ruled out before they chalk it up to anxiety only.  If you're having a pounding and elevated heart rate like that with trembling and shaking and can't get comfortable, you should get seen by a general doctor (family doctor) and get some labs pulled to rule out the common medical problems that might be causing this kind of heart rate.  A doctor will want to do some routine labs on you.  They will want to check your hemoglobin to make sure you are not anemic  (anemia can cause very fast heart rate).  They will want to rule out any signs of diabetes (can also cause very fast heart rate).  They will also want to rule out any thyroid problems  (can cause fast heart rate). Just make sure that you are OK with your "routine labs" before you chalk a pounding heart rate like this up to "anxiety only".

There is also a very common (and almost always benign, meaning it poses no danger)  heart value condition called Mitral Valve Prolapse that many women have and are diagnosed with AFTER they complain of a fast and racing heart.  The symptoms of mitral valve prolapse are fast heart rate, usually worse in the morning, continuing throughout the day with complaints of tiredness and fatigue, too.

Regardless of the reason for a fast and pounding heart rate, there is a class of drugs called "betablockers" that have often been prescribed with great success for people who complain of fast and pounding hearts.  I know many who have been placed on betablockers for fast heart rates caused by anxiety, and they are truly new people afterwards.  It doesn't treat the cause of the anxiety, but it reduces the pounding, fast heart rate, and it helps the trembling/shaking sensation.

You might find these links interesting.

I experience this same symptom.  I can sit at the desk chair *like I am right now* and look down at my shirt and see my heart beating ... it really freaks me out.  When I lay down to go to sleep, its like so loud I think the whole world can hear my heart beating.  Its kind of un-nerving because you think.. is it going to stop beating?  I know what you are feeling.  Its complicated.  I have good and bad days with my anxiety.  Today is a not so good one.  I've been kinda light headed and tired all day and had head pressure.  Hopefully I can conquer this anxiety stuff one day.  Good Luck to you!

I notice the pulse-like thing when I am still for the most part. It's most noticable when I am trying to sleep. It has kept me awake several times over the last weeks while I was lying down trying to take a nap.

Anxiety can cause your muscles to flex more than normal, including your heart.  It can feel like the bed moves with each beat sometimes.  Try to breathe from your tummy for 5 minutes.

I think this site is good for help joepanic.com

Good luck.

Funny, I was just on the web trying to find something about this about an hour ago. I don't know what it is, but I can tell you I feel that too. I can feel it in my whole body and I am riddled with anxiety right now. I had what I believe to be a full on panic attack the other night and it scared me to death. Maybe it's because I am anxious about my physical health and am more in tune with every little thing going on in my body? I hope someone else has some ideas on what causes this, but I just thought I'd let you know I feel it (and see it) too.
