Im i getting tolerance to ativan

I was experiencing...many paniac attcks and heart issues and then the er doc gave me 15 ativan..they really helped before i was taking the ativan i would never go out and was afraid to walk to the frig ..but im running out the only gave me 15 pills also im scared that in gaining tolerance because the 1mg is starting to ware off it seems in 2-3 hours instead of the 6 hours when i first started..now im wondering should i go up to 2mg or just continue on the dose but i dont think my pcp will give me any so im might have to get a psych spec to give me some ...any feed back and how long can 1 safely take ativan before it become an issue!

You are talking 6 to 8 weeks. Shorter at times. It is only meant as a short term fix. At times whilst they put you on something longer lasting. Your anxiety seems to be a full time issue. Klonopin maybe a better choice. It doesn't kick in as fast as what you have been on. But is better for long term use. They can still give you something to take for when needed. Klonopin and Valium and the likes. The valium would be taken only if needed. It is something you need to talk to your doctor about. The sooner the better.
