Important Question

Whenever I don't have daily anxiety (GAD), I feel kinda depressed. I know this sounds crazy, but it's true. I wonder why this is the case. Why wouldn't I be very very happy that I don't feel that way? Instead, I just feel kinda sad. I'm not sad at not being anxious, it just feels like this depressed feeling is lying underneath. It's very strange. In some strange way, I prefer the anxiety.

Anyone else feel this way? Anything that you did to alleviate the depressed feelings? Could this just be that I'm not use to not being anxious (ten years with GAD)?

FYI: I'm not on any drugs and trying to set up an appt with a doc for talk therapy.

Not sure if it's the same for you, but my therapist and psychologist said that anxiety and depression go hand in hand.  It is very common to see these two symptoms together.  Hey, I'm not going to lie, I get depressed that I have to deal with anxiety.  Why couldn't I just be normal?  Anyways, you can have anxiety due to depression as well.  Cognative therapy does work.  Give it a shot, I'm sure after a few sessions you will be greatful you did it.

I seem like a crazy person saying I have a therapist/psychologist.  We are not though.  We just have to learn to use the tools we have and cope.  It can be treated.  :)

yup! I was diagnosed with GAD and major depressive episodes. The anxiety feeds the depression, and the depression feeds the anxiety. I go to CBT and it does a lot. I cannot take medication becuase I'm pregnant...well I couldn't but I'd rather not.
