**Important**

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved escitalopram as the generic version (or equivalent) of Lexapro®.

Good morning nursegirl, time to get out to the chicken coop and get some of those brown eegs! he he

Oh and wouldn't an edit button be great! I looked around for a better medication but my efforts were unproductive. Thank you for any suggestions. Have a great day!

Wow, so sorry to hear of your troubles!  What a shame you had to give up something that really worked?  Unforunately a vast majority of medications are metabolized in the liver, but I will do some looking for you.  Never say enever!

Lexapro really helped me get my life back to normal. My anxiety was so bad I could no longer drive, or be in crowded areas such as the movie theatre. Department-head meetings were very difficult to speak at and impossible to write anything down.

This a very common problem for many of my family members as it is hereditary but also adding alcohol to the mix made everything much worse. Two years ago I gave up the alcohol due to liver problems then just a few months ago learned that Lexapro metabolizes in the liver hence making my problems worse. I discontinued using the medication and the withdrawals were very difficult. I had never given any thought to the dependency  that is developed from taking this drug. None the less it was well worth it!

I still have anxiety, some days are much worse than others yet tolerable without alcohol playing its role. I was prescribed Xanax but that’s a road I’m not going to head down so I rarely take it also it doesn't seem as effective as the Lexapro.  Are you familiar with any other anxiety medication that doesn’t metabolize in the liver but maybe the kidneys instead? Thanks :)

That's awesome news!  In my experience, Lexapro is a great medication, it was always very disheartening that there was a generic version available.

Also, the cost will come down more after a while being on the market, it just takes time.

Thanks for sharing!!!

Oh I didn't know that it was still so expensive. It's great medication but hard to always afford. Maybe it will someday make the $4 generic list at walmart! he he

Does it work well for you too?

Thanks Randy. I just got my first refill of the generic. I thought it would cost a great deal less, but was surprised there is not a huge price difference. Every little bit helps though!
