Increased dose of ssri = increased anxiety?

by CMSliwa, Oct 26, 2008 08:36AM
I think this has happened ever time I've increased my dose of prozac for anxiety.... I think I feel very anxious again for a couple days... but I don't remember quite and I'm freaking out.

So, here's my question.  Is it normal to feel an increase in anxiety just after an increase in prozac? (or any ssri?)  I went from 40mg to 50mg 2 days ago and for those 2 days have been feeling very anxious.

Like I said, I think this also happened when I went from 20 to 30 and from 30 to 40.  I feel like jumping out of my skin again and unable to relax, shaky, panicky, the good deal.

:::sigh::: I just forgot how long it lasts?

In my experience this happens, and happened to me, whenever I started, stopped, or adjusted dosage of an SSRI.  In my opinion, it is totally normal and you will adjust to it especially if you did as you went up in dosage previously. If it persists, just bring your concerns to you prescribing doctor, but long term I bet you will be fine with the increase..keep us posted!
