Inhaled Ativan

Hi I am a hospice nurse and I am looking for information about medicatons that can be inhaled. recently my triage nurse who is a NP sent me to see a hospice patient who was having severe respiratory distress, choking coughing etc. The small 0.5 ml of MSO4 and 0.5ml of Haldol were exacerbating the choking symptoms, the family refused to send the patient to the hospital and we were out of options at 3am. The triage nurse told the family to give Roxanol 10 mg and Haldol 1 mg via the neb. It worked miracles, the same tx was repeated every few hours and the patients respiratory distress was controlled and all vital signs were normal and there were no adverse effects. The patient was already in the active dying phase. needless to say we both were repremanded for having Roxanol and Haldol inhaled. We were told that there are no receptors for Haldol in the lungs and the sugar in the morphine could clogged the system. I know it worked and really that was all I cared about. Does anyone have any supporting documentation or experience with Ativan or Haldol via inhalation? I am looking for some supporting evidence that what we did worked besides the clinical results I saw.
