I am currently on 5 mg Lexapro (having lowered the dosage from a whopping 30 mg over a period of about six months). I am interested in trying either GABA or Picamilon (GABA/Niacin) to see if it may alleviate anxiety/depression. However, I have heard conflicting reports concerning its safety; some have said that GABA acts as an MAOI and thus cannot be combined with an SSRI. Is this true?
I have taken GABA for a few days w/ Zoloft 50mg. And I asked the homeopath about taking it w/ antidepressants and she told me that I should just take it a few hours apart from the zoloft. She told me since it was really just an amino acid that it shouldn't effect anything. I did discontinue taking it because I wasn't sure how it would be w/ xanax as well, as I have been on a combination of both. Hope this helps?
