And I dont believe the prozacProzac Prozac weekly is working, or will work for me. And also gives me sexual problems, very hard to keep an erection and obtain one, and also harder to orgasm
I really need to talk to my doctor about switching off these antidepressent type medications to help with my anxiety, becase the sexual disfunction leads to tension in my relationship and inturn more anxiety.
Its akward for me to bring up the sexual dysfunction with my doctor and im afraid shell just put me on yet another ssri.
The klonopin does seem to work for my anxiety symtoms but from what i read, valium would be better for my symtoms and problems...

(1) No, Valium would not be a better option. You display signs of autonomic hyperactivity (rapid heart rate), along with infrequent panic attacks. Klonopin would be a better choice in my opinion.
(2) Prozac has no useful indication in anxiety states. Prozac is only effective in refractory anxiety recurring from a depressive state. If there is no component of depression, Prozac will be ineffective. So will every other SSRI.
(3) Sexual dysfunction is an unacceptable side effect of a drug that has not proven to be efficacious. I would not hesitate to discuss this topic with the doctor. The drug doesn't work, and you have a rather unpleasant untoward effect to it.
(4) You state that you only use Klonopin for "flare-ups", thus the full potential of Klonopin has not been acheived. The maximum efficacy of Klonopin can only be appreciated if the drug is dosed twice daily, everyday. Klonopin must accumulate to steady-state before its benefits will be 100% effective. Klonopin is a maintenance drug - for the long-term management of anxiety/panic disorders. Maximum efficacy is seen after two weeks.
Would recommend speaking with the doctor about your less than stellar response to the Prozac, and request that it be discontinued. Klonopin, 0.5 mg, b.i.d. is generally far more effective in monotherapy (by itself). You have the right to accept and refuse medications suggested to you. If an SSRI is suggested, simply refuse it if you desire to.
Would Valium be better for my type of anxiety?
