Is possible to overcome anxiety without medicines?

I just want to know if it is possible to overcome anxiety without medicines. I'm scare of taking them and become addicted or affected by the side effects. I think i'm getting better. I'm startint to look forward to family reunions and activities related to the holidays and i actually get excited thinking about christmas. The only thought that keeps coming back is the fear of end up not loving my daughter. Is so dumb to think that i could get to that point but it scares me to death and makes me want to cry and i feel this thing on my chest everytime i think that. Am i crazy?

PS  You are right to be scared of the Drugs they prescribe read up about it, the side effects are awful and withdrawal is the same and very often you are left with symptoms that never go, they only work for a while it is best to "Endure" and it will simply go away.

I noticed a telling thing you said you start 'thinking"it is all in the thinking, we obsess and overwhelm our selves with our thoughts, that is the problem, when you start to think negative thoughts you can get into the Habit of dismissing them, put them away, distract your self,Mornings can be bad so get that old TV on to see what has happened today that isnt too scary, if your thought go to some worry you have think about it for 2 mins then let it go, if you cant solve it or change it,may aswell not think about it.Tell your self "I feel fine, nothing is wrong, I am going to have a good day" and say it over and over , brain washing your self.Keep busy and every time you little mind wanders back dismiss it after 2 mins. Try it ,it worked for me.

THAT'S THE TWIST. WE HAVE TO LEARN TO LET GO OF IT ALL. Y SEEK TO CONTROL SOMETHING THATS NOT CONTROLABLE? FIGHT TO KEEP YOU JOY. THE MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE...WASTE ON WORTHLESS IDEAS, OR FALLACIES. WE ARE LETTING LIFE GET THE BEST OF US...CHALLENG LIFE THE SAME WAY THAT LIFE CHALLENGES YOU. LIKE MY COUSIN TELLS ME.."YOU FOCUSED YOUR WAY IN, NOW FOCUS YOUR WAY OUT." REAL TALK..WE ARE CURLING UP BECAUSE WE WANT TO HOLD ON TO THESE WORTHLESS THOUGHTS AND PAINS. THESE ARE ATTACK ON THE MIND..JUST TRY AND BRUST THEM OFF..........IT IS POSSIBLE, BUT FIRST LEARN HOW NOT TO CARE, AND HOW NOT TO BE SO LOVING TO FALSE IDLES. i KNOW, THAT'S THE TOTAL OPOSITE OF WHAT WE WERE TAUGHT, BUT WHO SAYS THAT WE WERE TAUGHT CORRECTLY...RESPECT HUMANS, BUT ONLY LOVE GOD; WHEN GOD GETS JELOUS HE'S GONNA TAKE IT OUT ON YOU. NO FALSE IDLES!!!!!!!

I am seriously with you on this!  The fear of it is the worst...
You are right it is very powerful, but we have to try and tell ourselves that we are even more powerful than the mind!  I am really trying hard.

That's the problem. I start thinking about anxiety and my body starts to feel weird. The fear of having an attack drives me nuts. When i wake up in the morning i start thinking about how i feel to see if everything is ok or not. The mind is so powerful. I'm goinf to a therapist once a week and i think it's helping but the truth is that i am my worst enemy (thinking always the worst).

It will most certainly recede, however, the fact that you are feeling anxious may also mean that you have an anxious nature and that you do have to learn to live with when there are stressful situations in your life.

But there are lots of ways to deal with it now, you can do it.  You have to break out of the vicious circle of being "afraid" of your anxiety.  Try some of the tips I mentioned above, they may help you.

Good luck for your job,

I've been dealing with this for over a month. The company i work for is about to do some changes and is possible that i lose my job in October. I think that's why i developed this anxiety disorder. Do you think that once i know the answer to this question (if i lose my job or not) this anxiety will go away?

Yes it can be done without meds but it is hard.  However, as you start to look forward to things and see improvement it encourages you to continue.  I don't believe there is a cure for anxiety but I do believe that we learn to live with it!

You have to find something or a combination of things that works for you.  This forum is a great start.  When I first joined I read every thread, every day and tried all the tips I could find; self-help books, videos, tapping.com, positive thinking, herbal remedies, letting it wash over me, amd saying to myself whenever I had a crazy thought "SO WHAT!".

There are good days and not so good days but I think the secret is to accept them as they come, not try to fight them and just accept that nothing is permanent and soon it will lift.  The problem comes when you "fear" the anxiety, that only makes it worse and stronger, it actually feeds into it.  Once you actually truely understand that concept, your recovery will be a whole lot easier.

Don't forget we all understand how you feel, that's why there are so many threads in this forum everyday.  Remember, you are not alone!
