Is this anxiety? Natural remedies?

I have 2 questions. My daughter has experienced what she feels are anxiety attacks occasionally. Tonight she asked me to turn the tree lights off. We had just put the tree up and turned the lights on. She said the lights and noise (from the TV) was too overwhelming. She said certain music in particular bothers her. I remember when she was a little girl she sometimes would put her hands over her ears when we were in the car and ask me to turn off the radio. However, she seems ok with the radio on in the car now, for the most part. She also used to have a lot of melt downs as a little girl, especially about me leaving her, like at preschool, etc. She did seem to outgrow a lot and we didn't think much more of it.

Now she only occasionally seems to get a panic attack. She has always had a fear of a house fire, for some reason. I don't know if that's what she's worrying about with the tree lights or what. I tried to talk to her about it and she's not sure. I've tried to reassure her that we're careful with the lights, etc.

My 2 questions are first, is this anxiety or something else? And 2nd are there natural remedies that can help? She can't take medication, partly because she's pregnant right now and partly because she's had a bad reaction to some anti-depressants she tried a few years ago.
Any suggestions? I'd love to help in whatever way I can. Thanks!

I just forgot to add that she should consult a doctor before trying any of the above supplements ( that can be bought at your local food supplements store by the way, i forgot to tell you ). Because she is pregnant there are maybe some supplements she should avoid so it would be a good idea to talk to a qualified doctor before taking any of the above natural anti-anxiety remedies.

Hello there,

Yes it sounds like an anxiety problem and , like stated above, seeking a qualified psychologist is the first place to start.

As for natural anti-anxiety remedies you can try the following.

-Gamma-aminobutyric Acid (GABA)
-Kava ( piper methysticum )
-Passionflower
-Seredyn
-Valerian

You might consider trying Melatonin 1 to 3 hours before she goes to sleep it help regulate sleep paterns. Melatonin signal forms part of the system that regulates the sleep-wake cycle by chemically causing drowsiness and lowering the body temperature, but it is the central nervous system (more specifically, the suprachiasmatic nuclei, SCN) that controls the daily cycle in most components of the paracrine and endocrine systems rather than the melatonin signal. It's also good as an anti-anxiety supplement and it's a powerful antioxidant and it can also boost your immune system.

Physical activity and healthy diet is also a natural anxiety suppressors. Adding some Omega-3 to the diet program could be a great idea. To help lift moods and help calm anxiety, keep away from processed foods and eat more natural products. Also what we drink can have an affect on our stress levels.

Food i recommend as anti-anxiety diet are:

-Yogurt
-Bananas
-Vegatables
-Wholegrain foods
-Brown rice
-Beans
-Turkey
-Chicken
-Cottage Cheese
-Skimmed milk or try replacing milk with soy milk
-Fresh fish
-Poached Egg
-Tuna
-Fruit
-Porridge
-Baked potato
-Peanut butter
-Garlic
-Spinach

Hope this will help you daughter.

Best regards,
M4

Definitely sound like an anxiety problem.

For natural remedies it I don't know but if I were you I would take her to a psychologist or psychotherapist. I believe she would greatly benefit from that.
