Is xanax like ativan???

Just wondering if Xanax is anything like Ativan?? I have a Drs app coming up and I am thinking of asking for Xanax but if its anything like Ativan then I don't want it.... Ativan makes me sleepy! I have anxiety and I am just wanting something to calm me down but not make me go to sleep.
I have been having driving anxiety and I am starting to want to be at home all the time so I need something,

Ok thanks! I just don't want to be tired and I have really bad anxiety so I think this kind of med will be good for me

Xanax is a benzo so it is kinda like ativan but in mu experience xanax has a less sedative effect. Both i think shoulf be taken with only emergencies.
