I have a job I love and have been working in for almost 2 years. Over this time my husband and I have done the long-distance thing but he recently moved here. Well, he JUST got a job in the area... right about this time I found out my job has been terminated. I have been reassigned but this requires that I move. Its tough because I have a lot of close friends here - that is the worst part, leaving my friends.
Oh, I feel for you. What bad timing. It is so hard to leave a place where you've established roots. My husband and I have moved so many times in the past 3 years. We have always remained in So Calif. but moving sucks! We are currently looking for a house, hopefully this will be the last time we move. So does your husband have to look for another job too?
My husband got here last week so he didnt have a job but it looked like there was a strong possibility of him getting one. This will be the 7th time I have moved in 6 years and I really was hoping to settle down here..... not much I can do about it, but it certainly is frustrating/stressful.
Do you HAVE to go? Is it possible to find a different job? I don't know what you do, but is it something that you feel you can give up? It is a shame that this went and happened. Hope it all works out. Keep us posted.
Im a scientist in a VERY rural area (town of 10,000 people)- there are no other job opportunites here (for what I am qualified to do) other than those at this company and a few low paying positions at the university (I would make 1/4 of what I make now "if" I got a job there). This is the only other job I am eligable for at this company and, if I dont except it, I will be jobless as of now - Im in MO and a company only needs to give 1 day notice for job termination. The new position is in a majorMajor tears Major-gesic city in MO and there will be more opportunities for my husband there that will pay better than the low-paying job he will likely get here (at the university). Since I have spent 10 years training to get to where I am, giving up what I do and love isnt really feasble.....
