Jaw pain/soreness and Anxiety

Hi recently I have been having jaw pain/soreness and like a pressure feeling. I think ive noticed myself clenching  my teeth. I also feel like my arms  ache or like they are sore. I always think the worse and catastrophise like a heart attack or stroke but I say to myself I'm only 19 I cant be having things like that. I mean I know a heart attack, stroke can happen to anyone no matter what age but I try to tell myself young people rarely have heart attacks or strokes. I feel like I'm the only one in the world with this right now. Has anyone else had this? Thx for reading.

Do you wear a splint for the clinching? If not, you can grind your teeth down so you might have to get your dentist to make one. I have tmj and had to pay an orthodontist $2,300 but it was worth it because within 6 months the jaw pain went away. He said a dentist doesn't know how to make upper jaw splints and guaranteed an upper would work and for 6 years he has been correct.
I threw my dentist's splint away, and stopped asking him any tmj questions. Don't let tmj go unchecked for too long or you might have to get the operation.

I agree with Lorigirl. Meds can have strange side effects and this may be the problem. So can anxiety.
Many of us on this forum have aches and pains from anxiety. I know that I also get the jaw pain at times. My dentist said I'm grinding my teeth at night and I also have TMJ.
I would recommend calling either your Dr or pharmacist to ask if the law pain is a possible symptom of you med. I been on a couple of meds that made the jaw pain and teeth clenching worse.

Today I went to eat at a restaurant with a friend and then his house and almost the whole time I had to hide my anxiety and pretend everything was ok. I hate this.

Hi! Are you currently taking any medication for your anxiety?  I'm curious because I am having a time with my jaw being really tight and having pain and soreness!  I am on 75 mg of Zoloft and I don't recall it starting until I started on medication, but I know clenching in general from anxiety or from anti-depressants can cause clenching of teeth, which can cause the jaw pain. I also have the exact same thing with my arms.  I have, too, been afraid of it being heart related.  Anxiety can do some really crazy things to our bodies.  When I am really freaked out sometimes it helps me to read the symptoms of anxiety and it makes me feel better to see that what I am experiencing is normal. I have just before googled "all symptoms of anxiety". Best of luck to you!  Just know that you aren't alone and you are in good company here.
