by Gwen744, Nov 10, 2008 07:59AM
I was on Xanax for 14 years to treat panic attacks, I weaned myself off the xanax.  I began to have panic attacks again the doctor put me on klonipin, in 18 months, I have gained 25 lbs.  I an not overeating.  What is the problem.
I want to get off klonipin and try becoming med. free.  Help.

Hi, Gwen.  I too, took Xanax (Xanax XR) for many years, and now I'm on Klonopin as well.  What does your doctor say about the weight gain?  Klonopin, as far as I know, isn't supposed to cause weight gain.  I'm going to research this.

Between Klonopin and Paxil, i gained 80 pounds. this was over ten years ago. Not sure which one did it, or if it was a combo.
