Klonopin and Trazadone, PTSD Agoraphobia

Klonopin 1mg and Trazadone 50mg

Hello, I have been taking Klonopin 1mg for about 2yrs it was prescribed by the psychiatrist to help with the Anxiety and Attacks and to help sleep. Before I started the Klonopin I would wake up feeling sick to my stomach and I would vomit a few days throughout the week and would only sleep about 4hrs. I forgot to mention my PTSD depression has increased and Trazadone 50mg half in my case because i'm sensitive was prescribed to help me sleep and to help treat the depression. Last week while on the Klonopin when taking it at night it started taking me about 4hrs to fall asleep and it was becoming hard to wake up in the morning's. I could stay in bed all day if I did not force myself up. I started feeling extremely tired during the day and couldn't do much.

My question is can I take both medications at night? I would rather take just one in this case the Trazadone but i'm afraid of stopping the Klonopin. Any recommendations?

I have my next appointment in 3 weeks and doctor is only available via email response time is during the day unless it's an emergency.

1) should I just start the Trazadone and not take the Klonopin?
2) should I take half the Klonopin and Trazadone an hour after?
3) should I take the full Klonopin and Trazadone

I also take Ativan 0.5mg as needed

4) should I take the Ativan and Trazadone
(remove the Klonopin)

The goal is to sleep better feel less anxious and have a productive life. I have not been able to work since 2008. And it's hard for me to go out on my own someone has to be with me. As long as someone is with me I feel okay as far as anxiety attacks go. However it's not something I want to keep doing. I am trying to have a productive life and just be myself.

I'm new here thank you in advance.

Just a word about melatonin -- taking 3 may be worse.  It tends to work better at low dosages than at high dosages.  The above is right about not stopping the klonopin, or any drug that affects the brain, cold turkey.  You could suffer bad withdrawals and possibly a seizure, as benzos are also anti-seizure medications, so you want to come off it slowly.  Here's an alternate take at what might be happening -- taking these types of drugs to help you sleep can help for a while, but can also cause rebound insomnia because their intended purpose isn't to sedate you, it's an unintended side effect.  Taking medication for sleep for long periods interferes with REM sleep and, again, can cause this rebound insomnia.  This might not be what's happening, but it could be, so you might want to use the medication if needed for anxiety and depression but try to find other remedies for your sleep problem long term.  Melatonin is a good place to start, but you only need about 1mg.  At high doses it doesn't work very well for most people.

Hey there. It's smart you are reaching out to your doctor as they will be able to answer your questions than me and probably most people on here... However there are some great minds on here.... Anyways, don't stop taking the klonopin cold turkey as you have been on it for 2 years and 1MG. IF you do stop taking the klonopin you'll likely have to slowly come off it. However, there are some cases where people can stop and have minimal side effects. (I was luckily one of them). Have you tried anything else to help you sleep? Such as melatonin? I used to take this when I had a lot of anxiety. I have miminal knowledge about trazadone.... Do you take the klonopin daily? Or just as needed? Personally klonopin doesn't make me tired.. Unless I take over my prescribed dosage. Which I don't recommend unless you talk to your doctor.
Anyways, I'm sorry I can't be much help :/ your doctor will help you out for sure! If you want you can go to your local Fred Meyer/Walmart/Safeway just about anywhere and buy melatonin. It works great for me when I take it... Sometimes I take up to 3 of them at night when I'm having a horrible night to help me fall asleep.
Also I suggest when you wake up in the morning don't stay in bed too long. Get up, stretch, maybe go for a jog or a walk (if you have the time) and get active relatively quick once u wake up. This will help get your body prepared for the day.
I have literally had days where I would lay in bed all day.. Shoot I had a solid week where I did that. I would only get up to eat, use the bathroom, grab the remote control, feed the dog... This only made my depression and anxiety worse.... Being active helped me a lot! Good luck! We're here to talk whenever u need it.
