Leg Pain after panick attack

Leg Pain after panick attack

I was in the ER last week with a panick attack.  Ever since, I have had alot of leg pain.  It has basically been constant (especially in my left leg) since the attack.  While I was in the ER, the dr did a d-dimer blood test to test for blood clots.  It was negative, however, I still fear that I have a blood clot in my leg.  I have read that leg pain can be a side effect of anxiety but has anyone ever had leg pain for an entire week after a panick attack???????  Please help ease my mind!

I have never heard of leg pain associated with anxiety "attacks". I would tend to think that the pain is either unrelated to the episode, or psycosomatic to whatever triggered your episode.
I guess you could look at what your diagnosis is.
People with "panic episiodes" frequently have PTSD. Subsequent to some trauma, they may have even forgotten.
I had episodes that seemed "out of the blue" until my memories returned. Then the episodes made all the sense in the world.
Blood clot would unlikely be an issue, if you were checked in the hospital, and it has been a week. Activity is what clears the arteries. A walk would be good for your mood, and your circulatory system. If you have been active, there is no real reason for a clot, except heart issues. Did they give you Asprin? That is a general thing that "over 50's" do for their heart health. It has blood thinning properties.
There is no age on your profile. Blood clots, as I remember, are related to the calf. Are the pains in your Calf, or thigh, or knee? I guess "leg" is too general.

Yes.  Good for you to seek your doctor's attention.  The anxiety is mostly associated with something physical.  These are usually ailments that are most often not detectable.
Consider Chriopractic Adjustment.
Try to prevent any dehydration.  Magnesium is a plus for dietary supplement.
Let me know.

I would suggest walking. It is a natural form of EMDR. Walking helps process your emotions to the thinking side of your brain. It will help you excersize some of your tension out. Istated with a couple of blocks, and worked up to a mile. One of the most calming things I can do.

PS
NSAIDs also have blood thinning properties. That would make clot less likely, as well.

MZLAUREL - I am 26 and this is the 1st panick attack I have ever had.  It was horrible, and the weird thing is that it came out of the clear blue.  I was actually just sitting on the couch watching a football game with my husband when it started.  Many people have suggested walking and I will try that.  I have just been pretty drained the past week.  I think between fear of having another attack and my usual fear that something is always wrong with me has really drained me.  As far as the pain in my leg, it is usually in the left side of my calf and sometimes goes behind my knee.  I still worry about clots, but I have seen 4 dr's and none of them seem to be worried about that and say it is just stress.

Thanks for everyone's posts.  I am glad not to be alone with this situation!
