Lexapro

Hey guys I have had problems with 20mg Lexapro making me really sleepy.  Has anyone had this problem? Should I take a different type of med like Effexor

I am on 10mg of Lexapro (i take it at night).  It has worked wonders on my Anxiety but lately I have been very tired during the day.   My doctor indicated that our bodies are contantly changing and that what I was originally prescribed may be to much at this point.  I started at 10mg and he has changed it to 7.5mg.  He calls it fine tuning.  As cj29 said if the Lexapro is helping and your only side effect if fatigue, I would suggest talking to your doctor about changing your dose.  That me make a world of difference.

How long have you been taking Lexapro?  Sometimes it can take a little while for the body to adjust to the medication in my opinion, but SSRIs like these can cause drowsiness in some people.  First of all, does it work?  If so and this is your only side effect have you tried taking it at night?  It may actually help you sleep.

However, if these side effects bother you, I always suggest talking it over with your doctor.  Different meds affect people in diffferent ways and sometimes finding the right one can be a little trial and error....keep us posted!
