Long Term Memory Loss

by marysue102, Jan 06, 2008 06:14PM
I took Klonopin for 9 or so years.  .5 mg daily.  During that time I suffered from clumsiness, and my greatest fear, memory loss.  I must work very hard to remember what someone said to me 5 minutes ago.  Must write everything down.  I have been off of Klonopin for at least a year, but still suffer from short term memory loss and some long term memory loss.  It really helped me and I would like to return to taking it.  I am 60 years of age and am really concerned about my not remembering things said to me.  I have come us with a system for remembering things, though.  I also can remember numbers almost immediately and from many years ago.   Is this condition forever and if so will I have dementia or alzheimers, because of the length of time I too the med.  Alzheimers has not run in our family.  Most of our ancestors, had long life lines and coherent until the end.  May of them we in their late 80s, 90s, 100 years.
