I have been taking Xanax for almost 5 years now (.25x 3 or 4 times a day). I have read all the side effects but it is hard finding anything on the severe long term effects of taking this drug. Does anyone know a link or maybe some answers? Thank you Patricia
Yes. AddictionDrug abuse and dependence. Worst side effect going. By now you are addicted. 5 years. I am very surprised they are still working for you. But you can't just stop them. Never. That is the addictionDrug abuse and dependence point. Your body needs them. Even if you feel you don't need them. Coming off them is a hard auld slog. Once you're happy as you are. That's all that counts.
ditto what MrGreen says, but talk to your Doctor, if your ready to come off the Med or switch to a med that is longer lasting and less Addictive. and your Dr. can help you with coming off Xanax at a slow pace to help with withdrawl.
