Does valium lose it's anti anxiety effect over time or only the sedation effect.
I have read and been told so many conflicting oppinions.

Namaste,

I've been taking diazepam for four (4) years at a dosage of 10 mg. 4 times a day and haven't found it to lose any of it's anti-anxiety properties.

It does, however, on ocassion produce some sedating effects even after taking it for so long.

This is the only benzodiazepine which seems to work for me.

Hi there I was INTERRESTED TO HEAR THAT YOU HAD BEEN ON VALIUM 10mgs 4 times daily, I take ativan 1mgs 4 times daily which works out the same,
h as 1mgs of ativan is the same as 10mgs of valium, I have been on this for 30years and I just wondered if you had problems with queer heads I would love you to reply.

I was told by my doc who is a Internal Med doc but also specialises in addiction and recovery that if you are taking your medication the right way everyday it should not lose its effectiveness,,although some people have higher tolerance levels and the dose might have to be adjusted for there needs.  I hope this little bit of info helps.  Take care
