Lorezpam withdrawal

Has anyone gone through lorezpam withdrawal?  I have been taking 1 mg once a day for about 2 months.  I started taking it for anxiety because I've been having other medical problems and the anxiety of waiting for test results was killing me.  So, here I am 2 months later and wanted to taper off of it.  But everything I read about withdrawal symptoms scares me to death.  And everything I read says that your body gets used to the dose you're taking and you'll need more and more to get the same effect?  Is this true?  Maybe that is why my anxiety is very high now, even though i'm still taking it, and the other problems I had prior to taking it are worse.  Any ideas?

organisation in uk CITA. (liverpool) campaign for involuntary tranq abuse. If they are still going - had a lot of info.
As i understand it Lorezapan/attivan are fast in fast out tranqs.
Process of withdrawal is to convert to slow in very slow out equivalent ie  valium.
Then gradually reduce over time.
Might need to remain on minimal dose as it is the last few mgs that are the hardest to stop.  Need to  do 0.5mg a time over months at this stage.
Diet and nutrient dupplements also help.
The brain has to be encouraged to start its own production of anti anxiey chems that it will have stopped doing in response to being flooded with artificial ones
hope this helps - john

Ativan isnt supposed to be taken EVERYDAY. Although I know if you have bad anxiety everyday it's easy to do.

To give you something positive to hear, I didnt have any withdrawl symptoms.
I did taper off slowly... I was taking .5mg to 1mg at night for sleep.

I took it for about 3 months.. off and on.

I think you'll be fine.

Do you have a pill cutter?
You can get one at walmart.

I took 2 or 3 weeks to wean off... i did this myself w/out the Dr.s opinion.
I'm no Dr. so before you do this, talk to your Dr. first.

I took one .5mg for a week.
Then took half a pill for a week.
then took half of a half pill for a week.
then took half of a half every other day for a week.
Then I was done. =)

Didnt have any withdrawls at all.

The only withdrawls I had was from the Lexapro... 10mg.
I weaned myself off quickly. 5 days! Ouch!
Wasnt that bad for me actually.
Just some flu like symptoms for about 3 or 4 days.
Bearable.

Good luck.

I am going through Lorazepam withdrawal right now and it is not easy but I am doing it.... I started on 2mg daily for about 6 months, and I am almost off of it.... The key is to do it very slowly.... The fact that you have only been on it for 2 months will help you, that is not long at all... I would taper off at 10%/week, see if you have a compounding pharmacy in your area.... They will reduce your dosage in increments... That is what I had to do... Ativan should only be used for a period of one to two weeks, at most.most people are ill informed to this, I was...  Do it slowly and you will have no problems, you haven't been on it very long....  Slow and Steady wins the race every time, when it comes to these very powerful pills...

  Good Luck   Nate(+)
