Managing anxiety?

Hello, I've recently got back on some insurance and went to my new doctor for a check up. Finally after visit after visit with different doctors this one finally was able to confidently pinpoint that my problems stem from anxiety and no major health issues, which is great relief for me. But she highly recommend I find a way to manage my anxiety on my own if possible without the need of meds, which I agree with. My question is how might some of you go about calming yourself down and managing your anxiety? I can usually do it but as most of you know it can be such a pain to deal with sometimes. I'm just looking for some alternate techniques some might use, and see if they might work for me. Tyty

Does your insurance cover therapy? It might not hurt to consult with a psychologist. Meanwhile, have you tried exercise? I notice when I stick with a workout routine I feel a difference in my anxiety after a few weeks or couple of months.

It helps to know the root of your anxiety, what's causing it, what triggers it. That's where a good therapist may come into play. Otherwise, I find that keeping my mind occupied is essential. Too much time to think is dangerous. Read, exercise, watch a movie, take up a hobby, spend time with friends and family or make new friends, take a class, etc. Try not to spend too much time alone surrounded by your anxieties. Keep busy, exercise, get enough sleep, and set some short term goals for yourself.
