Medication change

Hi everyone i have hade sleeping issues for a long time i have been prescribed seroquel for the last 4+ years i really want to get off of it because of the weight gain it causes, my doctor tried switching me to trazadone but it didnt work im afraid ive been on it so long that nothing else will work but i want of of it so desperetley. I wont take the habit forming controlled substances (ambien, lunesta)  my doctor did mention Rozeram my insurance dosent cover that medicine but i might hae to bite the bullet and just pay for it. If anyone has any experience geting off seroquel i would love your feedback on what worked for you thanks.

Seroquel is not addictive so you won't run into any dangerous withdrawal symptoms. Just the standard flu like withdrawal symptoms that are more annoying than anything. I remember that when I transfered from it to another medication. Ask your psychiatrist for a time schedule though and follow their directions. As for Rozerem it is non addictive and is an FDA approved medication that works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle so its a worthwhile change and if your insurance company doesn't cover it find out if there's a way to appeal that as I have gotten many off label medications covered through appeals when the approved ones didn't work or I could not tolerate them.
