Mitral Valve Prolapse and Anxiety Medications

I was diagnosed a couple of years ago with mitral valve prolapse after suffering from multiple symptoms. I am 24 years old and I feel anxious often and have tension headaches very often. I went to a specialist for mitral valve prolapse a month ago and underwent testing. The doctor prescribed klonopin and metropolol for my heart. Does this make sense to take these together? Is this an effective way to treat my headaches and heart trouble? I feel like there is always something wrong with me. I also feel nervous about taking an anti-anxiety medication. What are your thoughts?

I really don't know much about MVP, but I have heard that people that have it quite often have higher cases of anxiety.  As far as the medication goes, if your doctor prescribed it, and you are following instructions about how to take it, then in my opinion you are doing the right thing.  Feeling nervous about taking anti-anxiety medication is normal in my experience, but to be quite honest it is good what it is designed to do.  But the key to dealing with anxiety is through counseling; that way you learn about it and thus can confront it.  I look at it this way...the meds are a good tool to use in conjunction with learning about it...knowledge is power.   Keep us posted!
