NEED HELP ASAP Re: Have to go to dentist Monday

I have had a few months of total anxiety/panic issues. Now I need to go and have 2 root canals done on Monday. I can't keep a straight thought, have been having severe anxiety/panic and PTSD symptoms. I plan on taking 1 mg of xanax before I go as they were offering me halcyon and I am very sensitive to meds :( So I usually take 2mg to 2.5 of xanax prescribed a day by dr if I am in a bad situation. I got to have this done. Hubby is planning on going in with me if they will let him. I wish I had made it for a sedation dr,,,but I didn't and now I can't change the situation w/out losing out on $ etc..Please help the pre-anxiety is doing me in.

I love to see what they are doing to me too. They once had to time my bleeding. I am a bleeder. Two cuts on my arm. The nurse asked me to look away. I said I wanted to see her doing it. Think I made her more nervous. Two little slits and a watch and then they counted the time down till the blood stopped. Don't mind that stuff. Needles either. But things going in my mouth. No rude jokes now folks. ( LOL ) Dentist would be the worse one for me. But over time you learn not to think ahead of yourself. That is only makes things that bit worse.

It is all about thinking too far ahead of yourself. You are already sitting in the dentist's chair. Days in advance. At least in your mind. You just need to find something to take your thoughts off the situation until the day comes. Because you are giving yourself a lot of unwanted stress. Stress that may build up to a situation were things become a lot worse. I know we hate having such things done. It is probably hard to tell you not to think about it. Because from your words it is like you are living it out already. I can see it been a learning experience for you. To take things as they happen. Live in the hour you are at. That's what I do. Whatever happens later in the day happens. I simply don't think about here and now. I find other things to do. To fill my mind up. Many ways out there to distract yourself. Come the day itself the whole idea will be to try and use anything you have learned and put it into practice. How can you dictract yourself in a dentist's chair? I know when I went for a checkup once they allowed me to have my MP3 player with me. Had music blasting in my ears as I was worked on. So if the dentist understands your situation I will say he will allow your husband in. Just explain about your anxiety condition. I am sure they get loads of people similar to you in. You won't be the first.
