Neck and head twitching ):!?

Neck and head twitching ):!?

My head and neck twitch when I get surprised or nervous, or if I know people are looking at me. This doesn't help since my chemistry teacher put us into pairs and I was moved from my seat in the very back to the middle with most of the mean people behind me D:.

I've read numerous blogs on this but as far as I know, no one has found an answer other than taking meds which would make things worse. One of the solutions I've read about is to breathe deeply, but what if you have a phobia of people hearing you? I don't have asthma but when I feel like my lungs are closing up that's when I just know I'm breathing shallowly and people can hear me.

It's gotten to the point where if they hear me they'll mock it by sniffing at the same time I breathe in(and then it gets EVEN worse to the point where I almost pass out from holding my breathe for too long). It's really frustrating because they assume that I'm saying someone stinks(yes I've heard one guy say so) when really I can't breathe due to anxiety and that's what started them saying that I stink D:. They've made me hate school even though I'm transferring out soon and I don't have any friends in school because the friends I used to have are insecure and two of them were jealous of me.. Okay my rant is over..

But I seriously hate the feeling of my neck tensing up. It's a new year and I just got back from the break and they're already being obnoxious a** holes :(.

You could talk to the teacher or a counselor about your feelings, perhaps your teacher could reassign you to a different group and the counselor could help you with what I am thinking is low self-esteem on your part. I also think you have some anxiety issues that need to be addressed.
Deep breathing is a very good way to relax but you can do it without anyone being aware. It's possible you're doing it wrong as with most deep breathing techinques, you can't hear anything. Some deep breathing, like Tantric, can be quite audible, but that's something we usually do in our homes, not a classroom full of what sounds like jerks and bullies.
What happened with the friends you had is quite sad. If two of them were insecure, perhaps you could have helped them? You say one was jealous and that IS a difficult emotion to deal with among friends, but friends can usually work through those issues if the friendship is valuable and worth saving.
My advice is to talk with your student counselor and let him/her know how you're feeling and they can help you decide how to proceed and make your life at school a more rewarding experience.
