Nervous

Hi I'm 22 and this is my first baby. Im really nervous and scared I won't know what to do after the baby comes home. I'm also super emotional and am having a lot of anxiety about not knowing what to do. Is it normal to be nervous?

Being nervous with having your first baby is normal, but don't worry....your motherly instinct will take over.  For now educate yourself by reading about caring for your baby and talk to friends and family for advice.  Try to relax,  being so nervous isn't doing you or the baby any good. This should be an exciting time for you!  There's wonderful books and magazines to educate yourself, and a wealth of knowledge on the internet in how to care for your baby. You know to feed and change him, keep him warm, lots of love and snuggling with mommy and daddy, soft music and talking to your baby is very important.
We all manage just fine once we have them and you will too!  There will be times when the baby will cry...not knowing what he wants...nor will you...but you get through these times and grow more as a parent. Take this time to read up on newborns and just keep educating yourself....you'll be amazed at how much will come naturally for you as a mother. Be patient with yourself and your baby.  Your baby will be depending on you for everything and the two of you will teach each other as you go along. Don't worry, the fact that you're so concerned tells me you're going to be a wonderful mother! I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!

Mammo has great ideals i agree with her , read and study but as a very young mother at the age of 19 i had no problems doing for my tiny new born.  he was born early and was only 5 pds 17 inches long so he looked like a baby doll i played with at a young age, i knew what to do for him and it came easy. love him.feed him, change him and make sure hes warm and comphy. its easy once they are here . yes a little scarey to know that baby is depending on you to make his/her life great but you can do it. maybe your mom/mother in law/sister or someone can come stay a week or few days with you just so you can adjust to the baby. but GOD made us for having kids and you will be fine. congrats on the baby and i know you will have may years of love and fun together .

perfectly normal to be nervous!! Dont worry, its bad for the baby! Things will happen naturally when baby comes home. Ive had 3, I know. The only difference between now and when baby is around is that you'll get less sleep because baby will be hungry. Baby will cry over everything, its a game to figure out what he is trying to say. Change diaper, eat, burp, boredom, sleepy.. could be anything so prepare now and expect the crying. Nothing else will change for you! Do you plan on nursing? That will make things easier! Babies arent as hard as you'd expect, really. Ask some friends how to change a diaper and hold them. You'll LOVE this change in your life.. calm down. ;) keep in touch if you need to.
