Never again!

My doctor suggested that I augment the remeron that I take at night with effexor xr 37.5mg in the morning.I suffer from health anxiety so he thought this may help.That was the biggest mistake I ever made!.My anxiety for the rest of the day was amplified 20 fold.Had weird thoughts extremely anxious and depressed and severe brain fog through the day.Will not touch this medication again!The only thing that seens to be working for me is valium 15mg per day.I find it difficult to understand how effexor xr ever got approved for GAD or anxiety.At least in my case,it severely increased my anxiety!Any feedback would be appreciated.

A lot of antidepressents can do that to certain people and others it can be gods gift. I can't take any antidepressents they all give me severe anxiety. Worse than without it. The first one that I ever tried was lexapro. My mother is on it so thay said most likely it will work for me. I had it in my system for 3 weeks and ended up having a nervous breakdown. I stopped taking the lexapro and with in a few days my anxiety was getting better. I had it under control until Jan 2007. Thats a whole other story. I have tried lexapro, zoloft, paxil and effexor. One of the first side effects that I get is this burning head feeling. It is so scary to me.

I guess some of us just can't handle antidepressents. Good luck and I hope you find something that works for you.
