New to Zoloft

I was taking 20 mg of Paxil for 3 years for mainly anxiety and panic attacks.  It worked really well for me and I was even able to go down to 10 mg still feeling pretty good.  My doctor suggested to very slowly start weaning off the drug completely.  The withdrawls were bad and started 3 days after I stopped the drug and lasted for about 10 days.  For about 2 months being completely off the drug I experienced horrible depression and the worst anxiety I have ever had.  My husband and I were hoping to start trying for another baby but this is being put on hold and a new doctor put me on 50 mg of Zoloft which I have started taking for about a week now.  My problem is it feels like it isn't doing anything.   Also I would appreciate any advice on taking Zoloft and pregnancy.

I take 50mg of Sertraline which is the generic for Zoloft.  It takes around 2 wks for it to take a full effect on you.  I had a horrible time with the side affects when I first started talking them but after a week they went away.  I have been on them for a month and a half now and I was feeling really good,  no panic attacks at all and when I did they can mild and went away fast.  But lastnight out of the blue I was lying in bed and got real flush and hot and it seemed like I wasn't taking meds at all.  I have felt ill all day to day like I did before with the panic attacks and I am just hoping this med didn't stop taking effect as I have heard it sometimes does.  HOw do u really know?

Just ensure you weight the pros and cons with your doctor...and be very careful Googleing for information.  You will find both valid and invalid information; the best resource would be from a candid discussion with your OBGYN...keep us posted!

I took this during my second pregnancy.  Thank God my son is healthy other than Reactive Airway Disease (which who knows if that is related to Zoloft or not?) But everything I have read on it says that is can cause heart defects during pregnancy.  I just recently read this and thank GOD my son is healthy.  Google it and see what you come up with...I would not chance it knowing what I know now.

Hi!  I have been on and off Zoloft (50mg) for the last 6 years, and consecutively for the last 3.  It works wonderfully!  But, from experience I can tell you that it takes at least 2 weeks to start feeling the effects, and up to 6 weeks.  Somewhere in between is probably a reasonable expectation.
I am currently pregnant (6wks) and am weighin the pros and cons of going off of it during my pregnancy.  I too am looking for advice from anyone that has taken it during pregnancy.
