Numbing

Numbing

starting last friday I began getting numbing pain and thought that it could have been stress or anxiety.  I originally thought it could have been a symptom of HIV, because I had sex with another man and yet I was probably over reacting and if its protected I wasn't at a risk.  Either way the pain and numbing is really severe on my right arm and hand, which is also my writing hand.  Someone told me it could be tendonitis or carpal tunnel but i thought i was too young to get carpal tunnel because i am only 18.  I also recently bought a new laptop the day after Thanksgiving and thought it could be my wrist that was adjusting but why would it only start hurting almost 3 weeks after i got it? Could it be a pinched never that just irritates it after and when i type cause right now it hurts.  But other times its ok.  But I started feeling this pain on both hands and arms but mostly on my right hand and wrist! I recently finished my final exams for my fall freshman year of college and it was probably one of the most stressful weeks of my life.  I am also getting tested for HIV but am pretty sure it will come back ok and HIV- so that stressed me out a lot last week as well.  Could my numbing pain be a sign of anxiety.  I also have a feeling in my throat as if I have hair in my throat and always feel like I have to swallow but its just always there.  Could this be a sign of anxiety as well?  I really appreciate all of your input and opinions!  Thanks.

I don't know for sure, but I really don't think constant numbing in your limb without other symptoms is anxiety or stress. I am not a Dr. but if I were you I would get to one tomorrow.

You never know what it could be. Have you researched blood clots?

the throat issue sounds like a "tic" to me... do you have tourettes syndrome?

forgive any misspellings....

i havent thought about it being a blood clot but that kinda scares me though, due to the fact that i am overweight.  on one website however its said that a numbing pain could be a possible sign of anxiety...but i am hoping its not a bloodclot!

well ive had numbing during a panic attack, but it doesnt last for hours or days

just stay calm now... it wouldnt hurt to take an aspirin if you have one...

aspirin, not ibuprofen etc...

i would get to the doctor tomorrow or tonight even, that doesnt sound right...

could it be a severe muscle issue of some sort?

I have pretty bad anxiety and severe panic attacks when I get them. Although things are well under control now.

I've gone through about every symptom that mimiced something severe, which it wasn't.

I've had a numb arm and severe tinglin all over with sweating and irregular heart beat... or so I thought.

The fact that your numbing isnt subsiding is what leads me to believe its not general anxiety.

i dont have tourettes syndrome and a legitimate website for anxiety said that the feeling of hair in your throat or the feeling that you have to constantly swallow but it doesnt do anything, says that it could be an anxiety symptom.  And i dont know about my arm.  I thought it was numbing.  Could it be a pinched nerve or something? I took and asprin and it helped a lot.  I notice that it hurts when i use the computer and type. any other ideas from someone else?

if you could give me some advice i would appreciate it.  I would just like to get a clearer idea of what it could be. Sometimes I have no pain at all and no numbing either, like right now.

i never heard of anxiety only being a main and numbness in your arm it cant be anxiety i dont see how.. anxiety is much more id say a blood clot or maybe a fatty tumor that is reacting with your nerves id definitly get it checked out.

Concerned,

The fact that the aspirin helped you, and you don't seem to be stating any other signs of anxiety, I really don't think that's the problem. Although, you may still have anxiety of some sort, if your numbness continues, please see a doctor.

Continued numbness isn't a sign of anxiety when it is "continued".

The aspirin thined your blood, which could possibly take some pressure of off a blood clot.

I am no Dr. but please either seek medical treatment for whatever the problem truly is.

You don't want to catch a problem at it's climax.

Let me know how you are doing.

Happy Holidays!
