OMG--Zoloft withdrawal

I have been taking 50mg of zoloft for about 2 and a half months.  I recently cut my dosage to 25mg to begin to wean myself off this drug.  I am experiencing withdrawal symptoms like crazy!!!  Stomach cramping, nausea, perspiring for no reason, hot flashes, moody and reduced sex drive amongst other things!! Anyone else experienced this?

You should NEVER wean yourself off ANY med without your doctor's guidance and input.  MOST of these medications come with a discontinuation syndrome (or "withdrawal"), which is why they should be gradually and carefully tapered.

I AM wondering, however, if what you are experiencing is more of a rebound anxiety versus a "withdrawal" due to the fact that you have only been on it for such a short period of time.  These meds take almost that long to start working, I would be surprised to hear you were experiencing withdrawal after that short of time and that low of a dose.

You really need to contact your doctor and sort this out.  Good luck, let us know what the doctor says!

Hey there!  Im on 50mg of zoloft but about 3 months ago went from 100mg to my current 50mg.  i went through slight withdraw but i've had alot worse being that i've been on so many anti-depressents, anti-anxiety, anti-psychotic drugs so the withdraw was just like a bad cold to me.  If its too much to bear call your doctor and he can reduce it much slower.  Don't go through the pain if you don't have to!  Good luck
