This huge chain pharmacy does not keep inventory on their controlled substances either. What a fly by night pharmacy they are! It's a wonder how they have managed to maintain contracts with insurance companies, especially the HMO's, who micromanage everyone and everything, including physicians.
Just unbelievable and very scary. Not only count your pills, get out your PDRs and make sure you received the correct medication.
your right, you do need to count your pills. this happenend to me a couple months ago, i was 1 pill short. not a big deal for me, but 5 pills is a big deal. count them every time because mistakes happen. take care. remar
Just back from pharmacy. The pharmacist gave me the additional 5 pills I was shorted yesterday. When I inquired as to who counts the pills, he responded "a tech." I asked how much training a pharmacy tech has to have to be employed in this capacity? He replied, "None." "As long as she can work the cash register also." My reply "Unconscionable!!!"
And so, I have chewed on this information, even swallowed it, but I CANNOT digest it. Count your pills people. NO room for error in any arena of health care. If you want the name of the chain pharmacy, please feel free to email me.
Thanks for your responses but, I would go back, but took my allotted 5 pills yesterday, so I won't be returning the bottle the same as I got it, which was 5 pills shy, which is a 1-day supply. Just another scary screw-up by so-called health professionals who can't or won't do their jobs without error, because when dealing with practice and treatment of medicine and peoples' lives, there is NO room for error - ever.
Go back to them and get your five pills. They will still have the script. Just bring back what they gave you. Everything will be sorted out.
