Pain in the chest/tightness

Hi all. I have been under tremendous stress the last couple of months, really bad the last couple of weeks, but it is subsiding. I have been having these spasm feelings in the chest area, mainly around the colarbone but sometimes in the center of my chest, plus periods that last about an hour where I feel like my chest is really tight. I have been to the ER twice with this and all was normal. I had a heart stress test and all that done about 2 months ago. In between these periods, my chest muscles, collarbone, under arms, sides of breasts, breasts, between shoulder blades are all sore to the touch. What is this that's going on, realatively new for me. The chest tighness really scares me because I think I am having a heart attack. I had a friend that had a heart attack and am now pretty scared, he was overweight, smoked a lot, didn't exercise but did have anxiety. I am 33, female, smoke less than 1 pack per day, fairly active but extremely anxious. I burp a lot and they put me on Prilosec, which does seem to help with the tightness. I am scared I am going to give myself a heart attack. I am really scared when this happens. I am in therapy, but during high times of stress, I dont know to handle this!

Is it possible to have upper chest burning all across the top of chest and upper back burning all due to anxiety? I have been suffering with quite severe panic attacks for a few months now, but recently Iv developed this awful burning as I said above and of course suffer with chest pains, shortness of breath etc. (usual anxiety symptoms). Doc said Im suffering with severe anxiety disorder and has arranged councelling. In the mean time Iv had an ECG, chest x-ray, 24hr holter monitor and multiple bloods taken, all of which have been clear for any probs with my heart, which is what I am most concerned is the problem. Sorry for waffleing on but is there anyone else out there who has this awful burning that I have caused from anxiety, please help!!!

hi i too have fears surrounding the heart, you prob feel worse cause of what happened to your friend, if i hear news about someone passing away due to a heart problem my fear intensifies. as CJ said you have to trust the tests i know it is hard cause i find it difficult to trust too, but if we want to get rid of this anxiety thats the first step forward, i hate the chest tightness but the more you worry and think about it the worse it will get. when your chest feels tight try to take your mind off it, do something else just dont worry and concentrate on your breathing

You have had the tests...now trust them.  I know it is easier said than done when you are suffering from health anxiety.  Many people have anxiety over their heart health.  That was what originallly was my issue.  Have you gone to seek help through talk therapy?  Now that this has been going on awhile it is time to turn it around. Knowledge about this, is the best way to confront it in my experience.  Furthermore, when we have someone close to us have problems with their health that can really make us focus on the same area of the body.  Also....try to quit smoking...long term it can and will do damage to the body.  Keep us posted!!
