I have been on Lexapro since November and just last week was put on a small dose os Zoloft to see if I could tolerate it for a possible swtch. I had an appt with my Phychiatrist today and told him that I have had nausea, diarrhea and loss of appetite. He indicated that these are side effects from the Zoloft and now wants me to try Pamelor for a week. I have never heard of this med. Can someone give me some feedback. I am so confused.
Start at no more than 25 mg nightly. The dosage may be increased in 25 mg increments every two weeks if indicated.
Sedation, constipation, weight gain (often massive), dry mouth, blurred vision and urinary retention are the typical side effects. These generally dissipate or lessen within several weeks (less the weight gain). Otherwise, it is a very effective medication - moreso than the SSRI's if the indication is anxiety.
Should you not tolerate Pamelor, Sinequan is also very effective (but more sedating).
