Panic Attacks gettin on my nerves so bad!

I have been having panic attacks that wake me up out of my sleep and then my heart rate will be between 103-114 also lm waking up with tingling in both hands  then I have to take a Xanax .5mg and then my heart rate goes down. I also will get them during the day while do   ing not a thing. This is being to get on my nerves like badly. I have had this like in 2009 and maybe once more in 2010 but now it is like everyday and night for the past two weeks. I have had cardiac work ups and all my blood work is normal EKG, Heart monitor, Stress test are all normal! So what the he double hockey sticks is it and why now? I am 38 and I work for doctors and I was given Xanax .25mg and that wasn't helping so now I was given Xanax .5mg but im still waking up with these attacks. Come on im sleep what the world!! Any advise??

cmac21 is correct about the fact that Xanax is only for breakthrough issues not as a treatment. Have you tried ANY of the anti/anxiety anti/depression meds? Celexa, Lexapro, Zoloft, Prozac? These are the ones where you should be starting on low dose and slowly move up to find the correct dose for you. And then just using Xanax for the bad days and when you do the initial start-up on any of the ones I listed above.

Good Luck

I'm sorry to hear this is happening on a regular basis for you! I know exactly how you feel.

Have you tried any other forms of therapy? Is Xanax something you only take when you are having an attack, or do you take it on a regular basis?
