Panic Attacks

I only started having panic attacks and anxiety about two weeks ago. I know a little bit about the disorder because my sister has it and I am a nursing student. My attacks differ from my sisters. Hers seem to be more severe, her attacks mimc a stroke. Here is what happens to me, my vision has changed and it doesn't go back to normal, I get a burning sensation in my head and neck, I tingle in my hands, feet, and lips. My heart races and I feel faint. I also breath heavy and get dry mouth. Does anyone else get the burning sensation? Because my doctor seems to think that it is not due to my panic attacks.

As a nursing student you may know that some things need to be "ruled out" and I suggest you jump through all the hoops to rule out things before settling on the panic/anxiety thing. That said, the symptoms you report, while not conclusive, or not inconistent with panic/anxiety.

Keep us in the loop, right?

My hands and my feet can heat up some when anxiety is taken me over. Symptoms differ from person to person. It's as if we latch onto one main symptom and then that becomes more dominant within us. Just read around the forum. You will people with pins and needles. People who might pass out. Myself has the bigger fear of throwing up. We all differ. Maybe your doctor is trying to be positive. The worse you think about it the more severe it might become. I fell into that trap. With the likes of us heating up during panic, by way of sweat, it is more to protect us, as it cools the body down. Hard to accept I know. That these horrible feelings do what they do to keep us safe really. But I am sure many others would experience the symptoms that you do too. Just hope you can find the answers you are looking for and all works out well for you.

It all really depends on what you mean by "burning". However, when I was at my worst, I had all of these symptoms. You mentioned that your doctor does not seem to think that the burning is NOT  part of the anxiety/panic. What does he think it is related to then?

She thinks the burning is due to a really bad sinus infection that I have, but I am thinking it is part of the attacks. I have been on meds for the infection for over a week now and the burning in my face still comes. I guess I will just have to wait a while longer and see.
