Paxil & Terbinafine

by vgdxo3, Oct 31, 2008 09:42AM
I've been on Paxil (10mg) since mid-May '08.  I started taking Terbinafine in mid-September '08.  In mid-Oct, I started experiencing vertigo really bad at first anytime I moved swiftly.  As long as I was sitting at the computer or lying down, eyes-shut at first until the dizziness subsided, I was ok.  As of the 23rd, I stopped the Terbinafine (on the advice of a doctor) and I would like to stop the Paxil, too, as I believe it could be the combo, PLUS it has increased my appetite, PLUS I don't feel I need it anymore.  I'm more concerned about the dizziness and would like to know if it's best to just STOP the Paxil as I did the Terbinafine.  Anybody have this experience, too, and know how to help?  Thank you!

It is never a good idea to come off of an SSRI like Paxil 'cold turkey.'  Always do it under the advice of the doctor.  Why would you want to stop the Paxil if it is doing what it is designed to do?  Multiple studies suggest staying on a course of treatment for about a year EVEN if you feel much better...this prevents relapses in the future.  I actually went back on one in January and felt great since February, but I am not going to come off until December/January because of the advice from my doc...keep us posted
