Paxil CR

Hello,

I am - with the help of my doctors - weening myself off of paxil cr.  I was at 25 ml for 7 years, but about 2 months ago started to ween off.  Is this a long process?  I'm went down to 12.5 every other day for about 3 weeks then to once a week.  Well this is the 3rd week and i'm starting to feel anxious again.  dry month, hot flashes in the morning. Lightheaded.  Whats up with this?  How long should a normal cycle of weening of this dosage take? Some one said maybe a year.  Please advise

Thanks - De

i had to wean off paxil before i got pregnant. the doctor said for every year you r on paxil then thats how many months it takes to wean off safely and without any withdrawls. so i was on paxil for three yrs and it took three months to wean and i was fine. he also gave me clonapin to help during that pocess cuz he dsaid i would have ups and down while weaning. you've been on it for 7 yrs so it should take you 7 months to wean. you wean too fast.....you go through hell. good luck hun, and ask for somthin like clonapin to help you out during the weaning process.

im here for ya :)

Hi, I was on Paxil about 20 mg for about 10 years.  I weaned down to 10 mg for a couple of weeks and then off and didn't have a problem. However, the paxil never did help my anxiety (only worked on depression for me).  Several people I know of have had no problem with weaning off of it.  However, I purposely did not read any websites because I am susceptible to suggestion so if I had read any withdrawal symptoms, I might have suffered them myself.  I do know that there is a website out there called paxilprogress that you should stay away from because I heard there are horror stories on it.
