Paxil Withdrawel and New Meds

Ok So I've been on Paxil for about a year. At first, it was magical. Then, the effectiveness started to wear off. My doctor bumped me from 20 mg to 40 mg. Now, I'm constantly tired and have no sex drive. I stopped taking it for a week and the sex drive and energy are back. Yet, I've been feeling sick to my stomach and dizzy (almost drunk) for the last few days. Did anyone else experience these side effects? My doctor wants to put me on Lexapro. Has anyone else with general depression and anxiety had great success/failure with Lexapro. I hate having to be dependent but if I'm going to be I don't want to be miserable.

Did you taper off the paxil? Or just stop cold turkey? I heard paxil withdrawel can get real nasty.
