Ahh, I'm sorry you feel this way and have such great fear of snow.  While it is reasonable to have fear of driving in snow----  perhaps you are talking about the level of your reaction?  I know that I too do not like driving in snow.  I live in an area where there is often ice beneath it and have had a few bad driving experiences.  So . ..   I get my groceries (like EVERYONE else, wow, our grocery is packed if there is bad weather in the forecast . . .   and our store, a large chain actually has a weather division that tracks storms and sends extra food to locations where storms are headed for this reaction of the public) and then prepare.  IF the roads are bad, I just don't leave.  I've got no problem staying home.  Now this is difficult if you have to get to a job and weather is often bad where you live.  You may not have the luxury of saying you'll just stay home if it snows and the roads are bad.  I don't know.  But in general, knowing that you staying home is reasonable if terrified to drive due to road conditions.  Then perhaps go out with someone driving at different times to do as the above posters mention, get used to it a bit.

They have many good strategies now to clear the roads where I live.  there are only brief times that it is realistically unsafe and not cleared.  Monitering that may help.

But if you have phobia level fear, this is time to speak to a counselor.  Have you considered that?  Best of luck to you.  We're having a mild winter here so that helps.  :>)  peace

Desensitization may be what's called for here. Next time there's some light snow but roads are otherwise dry, get in the car and go for a drive -- and not just around the block. Note that you are able to safely get around despite the snow. Then, do it again when there's a little bit of snow on the ground, and notice that you are able to maintain control of the vehicle and get around safely despite the snow, Continue doing this and work up to driving in poor conditions. I don't mean going out in a blizzard or anything. But you need to regain your confidence. You might consider getting snow tires for the winter, rather than drive in all-weather tires to give you some extra confidence. Best wishes!

Yes driving in snow can be scary but when you learn a few tricks to driving in it, it gets better :) Like staying off the brakes and I always stay in one lane because lane changes can cause skidding. The U-tube suggestion is an excellent idea :) good luck! Growing up in Michigan  I drove in snow a lot. You have situational anxiety, that's not abnormal.

Driving in snow can be very scarey, so this is not necessarily a psychiatric disorder. There are some excellent videos on youtube concerning driving in snow that will help you out a lot.
