Please help where do I go from here, severe withdrawal

by Rebekah232, Sep 20, 2008 04:37PM
I have been waiting for an answer but to no avail.  I have been on 225 mg of Effexor for a few years.  I am on day 7 cold turkey and having severe withdrawal. Where do I go from here?

Did you ask your Dr. how to taper down from the Effexor?   It should be done very slowly. From 225 to zero is way to much for your system to handle especially after years of use.  Go to your doctor and I'm sure he will put you back on a lower dose and taper you from there.  I took Effexor XR, in the past, and tapered off by taking a few grains out of the capsule each morning.  First ten, then twenty etc.  It takes awhile but there is no withdrawal.  Good luck.

Oh my gosh...I cannot even imagine!!  Don't do this without direction from your doctor.  I was on 225 mg. last year.  It took me almost 6 months to get off, and then sometimes I would be "shaky or sick.  Effexor is tough to get off..but it can be done.  I have done it....but don't do it your way!!!!!  Nana
