I had a very hard time during my first pregnancy and they told me I had to make it past the 3 month mark. I did and then I went on medication because my OCD/anxiety/insomnia got really bad. I decided to stay on a low dose of prozac through my entire second pregnancy. Both of my boys are fine, although my youngest one does have ADHD. I don't think it was from the prozac.
Having said this, it is always best not to take mediation while you are pregnant. When I did, there was very little reseearch out there. Today there is a ton of it so I would really thoroughly research pregnancy and anxiety meds and also have a sit down with your OB/GYN about it. You said you are starting therapy soon, so maybe that will be all you need. Also our therapist may be able to give you some information about pregnancy and meds if it comes down to you feeling like you need it. Remember, you need to make an informed choice based on facts.
Everybody is affected by medication differently. And the medications do not start working over night. They take 3 to 4 weeks for you to really see the benefits. You need to weigh the pros and the cons on this one and then come up with a solution that will work for you and your baby.
