Question about increasing Zoloft

by Vicki68, Jun 16, 2008 11:28AM
I have been taking generic Zoloft 25 mg for about 7 weeks now.  I do notice an improvement with my level of anxiety and my mood swings.  Initially I had some increased anxiety, hot flashes and some GI problems.  These went away after about 2 to 3 weeks.  After talking with both my doctor and my psychologist, I have decided to increase the Zoloft again.  My doctor suggested I do it slowly, going from 25 mg to 37.5 (1 and 1/2 25 mg tablets), and then increasing to 50 if I feel I need to after a while.  My question is, could I see a return in the side effects when increasing the dosage?  I know that the doctor is increasing it slowly to limit side effects, and says I should not have the side effects this time, but I would like some opinions from people who have been on Zoloft.

Thanks,

Vicki

I have taken both the brand form and generic form and do not experience differences with them.  For me, during any increase or adjustment in dosage, it tended to bring back some anxiety and some side effects but they did go away again after a few weeks.  If you know what to expect, then it is fairly easy to do what you are doing.  I believe your doctor has it right to increase you slowly.  Just remember, just like the first time, it gets better and the body does adjust!
