Question for Ryan

Hi.  I have seen several of your posts and you seem to be really knowledgeable of klonopin.  Do you know of any adverse reactions with taking taurine with klonopin for GAD.  Someone suggested that taurine was also good for anxiety and GAD.  Do you know anything about taurine and if it would be beneficial to take?

Thank you Ryan.  I have been going back over a lot of the recent posts about klonopin and saw one where you are talking about steady state and klonopin.  My Dr. has never said anything about steady state so I found that posting to be extrememly interesting.  My Dr. has me taking 1 mg. klonopin once a day for GAD.  After reading your post, I am now wondering if I need to split the dose into 2 doses a day.  What would be the benefit of taking it twice a day vs. once a day for GAD.   Does a higher amount build up in your system to help prevent breakthrough anxiety?  Regarding tolerance issue, can this be taken really long term without building up tolerance.  I was told I may possibly have to take something the rest of my life and have been scared about taking klonopin that long.

Thanks.  You have helped me so much.  Guess my taking it once a day would explain why I have anxiety alot of days in the late afternoon, only to get better when I go to the gym and work out.  Thanks again  for your help.

I am so happy I found this board. I always feel better when I have information. I have been having very bad panic attacks and anxiety since mid July. At first I was taking ativans that I had in the house but after seeing my doctor he awitched me to Klonopin. He prescribed .5 mg 2x a day. I haven't started yet (drugs scare me)I have two questions. The first one is if I cut the pills in half and took .25 bid would that be a thereputic dose?( I am so scared of meds) and secondly I have allergic asthma which I control with Advair and singulair.
My doctor said that I could take the klonopin I was just wondering what you know abou that. Whenever I read about benzo's they always mention asthma.

my dr gave me klonopin to take twice a day for my anxiety, he said take .05 am and pm , but like you i scared of meds to so i started out taking half of the pill .025 in am and rest at pm, well it worked good for me and i never took it up to the whole .05. it takes little of meds to help me so i stayed at half a pill untill i came back off of it . i think klonopin is a great med. try it at .025 half the pill twice a day and in 3 days go up to the full does like dr said if you feel the half is not doing it for you . good luck.

Thanks so much for your reply. I also require little meds. When I was taking the ativan I was only taking .5 mg once a day and it helped. So I am hoping that I can get by with .25 of the klonopin twice a day. If you don't mind me asking how long were you on klonopin before going off and were you able to just stop or did you have to taper off?

In genreal, Can you build a tolernce to klopin? I have been on it 2 months  it seems that IM builing a tolrence to klopin been on 3mg for a month or two but still have some aniety syptoms (symptoms).  I take .75 mg every 5 hours suggestions?????
