REALLY, REALLY, WORRIED,, SLEEP QUESTION

by louwho72, May 25, 2007 12:00AM
I put this up once but it didnt appear, I will try again, if this comes up twice I am sorry, I just need some assurance.
I have been under stress, my blood pressure been up...
For the last few days, I have been having this feeling of falling, or sinking when I fall asleep... I dont jerk,, It just a feeling I get, and it wakes me up.. It happens ever few min, and I haven't sleep good in over four days.. I usually have to get up and do something,, but I had this friend who is a nurse tell me today that she read this article about the feeling of falling when laying down, and that we shouldn't ignore it,, now I am freaking out so bad,, thinking its seizure or something, she dont remember the rest of the article and is going to try to find it, In the mean time I am freaking out,,,
I am so sorry for this pity party,,, My quality of life is really bad right now.. I have health anxiety so bad,, I live in a constant state of worry over my health,, I have just got out of the hospital like I put up early.. I just need a break from my thinking....
Ok I will go if anybody has this happen to them please, please tell me,, is it anxiety or something else...
Thanks agian

This is very strange b/c I have been having this feeling, especially today.  I had a MAJOR anxiety attack today, the first in about 8 months this bad. I had every physical symptom associated with it - nausea, bowel issues, dizzy, clammy, weak extremities, etc. And after I took my klonopin (about 1.5mg) I laid down and started having that sinking/falling feeling and felt like it was coming from my brain/head. Every time it happened (about 3 times in a 1/2 hour time), I opened my eyes and quickly got a grip (don't know how). After my klonopin finally kicked in about an hour later, I fell asleep for about 3 hours and that sinking feeling went away and my anxiety was much better when I woke (except for the bad headache I sometimes get with taking that much klonopin).  It was a bad one and if I didn't have that klonopin, I would have been back in the ambulance to the hospital.

I also have had that feeling before today and it is very scarey, but I really think it's caused by anxiety - just another symptom.  Anxiety messes with the chemicals in our brain and of course it will cause all sorts of weird feelings. I was worried today b/c I had taken my pain meds b/f I took the klonopin and thought I may be having a reaction to the two interacting and was thinking seizure myself.  That's what this God-awful disease does to us!

I'm going to bed now and I hope very much that tomorrow is a better day as I hope for you!  I hope this info helps.  Best..........

pls check out the the following link for anxiety symptoms:

http://www.anxietycentre.com/anxiety-symptoms.shtml

under body symptoms: "The floor feels like it is moving either down or up for no reason" <---- is that what you're talking about?

you need to check with a Dr whether you may have any physical issues that is causing this sensation or not. did you do all your tests?

You said you came out of hospital, did they find anything wrong with you at all? if No, then read more into this anxiety symptoms & check with your Dr. what's the best way to treat your anxiety.

Anxiety is managable & treatable in plenty of cases so don't freak out.

Also, if you have something serious, do you think they'd let you go out of hospital like that?

google for breathing relaxation techniques & muscle relaxation techniques as well & I'm sure they could calm you down a bit.

cheers,

i get that as well... about 20 minutes after i fall asleep.. i am falling... and i mean falling.. i wake up so quickly sometimes i leap out of bed.. thinking that I am about to hit bottom...it almost makes me afraid to go back to sleep.   its VERY strange for me.. and no matter how many times it happens.. its still just as scary as the first time it happens..

I have no idea why it does that.... i am assuming anxiety... although.. why in the world AFTER i fall asleep.. well.. that has me stumped..lol..

i hope that you find relief!!!

Some thing happens to me on occassion too. I feel like I am falling out of a plane of something and then sudden feel like I "jerk" awake but I dont think my body actually jerks, if that makes sense.

If you go to sleep with anxiety, chances are your dreams and sleep will be disturbed with anxiety. I have to get my anxiety under control before I go to sleep or I will also have that falling feeling.  I am under SO much stress right now that I just take a klonopin every night before I go to bed or I wouldn't get an anxiety-free sleep and that is not good.  You must have a good nights' sleep.

And, I did last night and feel much, much better today.  Hope you all are feeling better as well.  Best................

I dont now if it is anxiety related, the anxiety may be keeping you more alert when trying to fall asleep that may effect it. Stress in general seems to aggravate this condition.

Hypnogogic myoclonic

http://www.failedsuccess.com/index.php?/weblog/comments/falling_sleep_hypnic_jerk/

If when you surender to the flaling sensation you get a brain zap and or a loud bang in your head that is exploding head syndrome.

Most doctors get a lot of their education from pharmaceutical companies, so they dont know about these conditions and say it is anxiety and prescribe you a pill.

Try to to remember not everything needs a pill.

I get this feeling from time to time while im in bed... once I start falling asleep, I'll feel like I'm falling... and it wakes me up in panic... and its hard to fall back asleep.

It's completely normal when you suffer from anxiety. Just try to tell yourself, "its only anxiety" stay in bed... and try to relax, and fall back asleep.

I also get a overwhelming rush over my body as well sometimes in the middle of the night that will wake me up too. It's scary... but I know it's just anxiety.

i used to get the falling dream thing when i was younger in my teens. over the past year however not every day some times not even for month, but sometimes i will be sleeping and ill get this sinking feeling in my head while my eyes r closed and trying the fall asleep. The feeling gets overwhelming and i have to sit up. It happens many times throughout the night before i fall asleep when this occurs. Sometimes my heart also feels to be raceing fast but when i check my pulse its normal
