Random feelings

So basically for the past 2 months I've been dealing with anxiety and panic attacks.  I've had chest pains, head pains, arm pains, shortness of breath, etc.  I've taken xanax, buspar, valerian, etc.

This weekend I decided not to go out at all.  Instead, I spent the weekend playing video games and watching TV with my roomate.  For the past few days I haven't had chest pains, and my anxiety levels were less.  I don't go to bed with pains, and I feel more energetic in the morning.

I still have 2 worries:

1)  I am not used to feeling NORMAL so now I am nervous about not having the palpitations and pains.

2)  I still don't like to get my heart rate up.  I am still afaid of exercise and sadly...sex...

I want to get over this since my girlfriend is coming to see me in 20 days.  I've been to the doctor twice to get my heart checked and the doctor laughed at me when I said I was afraid to exercise.  She said I am young (24) and have a healthy heart.

I can go for walks and I feel fine.  When I walk up stairs  my heart starts racing (I also feel for my pulse) and I breathe heavier.  I was thinking of going to a cardiologist.  I don't know what to do.

Also, is there such a thing as anxiety suddenly going away (i.e. my pains suddenly going away?)

Hi, I do agree with what cj has posted...I too, have the same problem with working out when my heart rate goes up.  I actually just had a talk with my Dr. about that today and she says that it is normal for it to spike up...have you had an EKG done? Yes, I thought about seeing a cardiologist as well, but my Dr says my EKG is fine, so in other words, ask if you could have an EKG done for your assurance, hopefully you'll feel a bit better...and like cj said, counseling helps.

Take care and god bless!!

In my experience anxiety can manifest itself in many different ways and can come and go on a whim.  Random concerns can also come and go all of the sudden as well in my opinion...it is one reason why it is so confusing and hard to deal with.  The good thing is your doctor says medically you are good to go...so why not confront the anxiety?  Do you have access to counseling?  Learning about it can really help shed some light on it and help you deal with it in my opinion.
