Hi - this is the Anxiety forum, not the HIV Prevention forum. You are welcome to discuss your anxiety and ask for assistance coping with it, but this isn't the appropriate place to talk about HIV risk and testing.

Hello
Please I need someone to talk to me, I had a sexual intercourse with a sex worker, after which I found out there was a poin sized hole on the condom as I was washing it off before disposing it. It got me scared because I can't really tell how the pin hole came about if it was when I was pulling it off or the sex worker really made a hole on it or something else. I saw the doctor the following morning and he told me I should worry less that my chances of contacting HIV was preety low and that if never stayed long in her I should feel less worried(I think I spent about 3mins with her) He asked me to get TARIVID which I did just incase of any other STD's other than HIV. 5days after exposure I started having this light fever, no rash, no headache, I still eat very well and I don't have anybody pains anywhere. I went back to the clinic and the doctor told me it was nothing to worry about and he infact ran a test on me(that's after one weak of exposure) and it was nagetive which I know it won't show after a weak based on the info on net... Pls someone talk to me, what are the chances that this light fever I'm having could be a symthom of HIV its about its about 4days now and I'm still havimg the fever and this is my second wk of exposure... Pls I need a reponse. Thanks
WOW i have had an almost identical scenario. I took a RNA PCR pooled nat test at 20.5 days. which was 3 days into the main start of my symptoms, and it was not detected. im wondering if anyone can give me info on that? I was told you had to have a high viral load during your ARS symptoms becuase its your body reacting to the high viral load itself. Considering mine was negative can that disclose that they werent ARS symptoms? I also tested again at 32.5 days because i just want to be sure. and ive been told this is a very good 4th generation test and pretty much 100% conclusive after 4 weeks.
its hard to say at this point. my doctors dont think its HIV though. Because i took a PCR RNA Pooled nat test 3 days into my symptoms and nothing was detected.. which was at 21 days after low exposure. I also just took another same test today, just to be positive and so i can close this chapter of my life.
Have u found anything related to ur symptoms. actually i had as well experianced similar symptoms like ur's...
So I got my results back. Everything was negative and normal. It's been 8 weeks, so I still need a test at 13 weeks if I want a conclusive result. My Cbc and WBC results were normal. Glucose levels were normal. Syphilis and HIV negative. Thyroid and everything else normal. I don't know why I'm feeling pain but maybe everyone is right and I'm completely fine. Is 8 weeks considered conclusive in my case?
I have started to develop some sort of metallic taste in my mouth and a possible white coating on my tongue, especially in the back. I am wondering if I am suffering from candida within my body. I don't know how that is possible though. As long as I don't have HIV or herpes or hepatitis or syphilis, I don't care that much about what else I may be suffering from. I'm having constant aches in my right buttcheek and back right now. I'm also feeling a little dizziness. My penis feels a little sore from time to time. Skin problems seem to be getting better.
I have also just noticed a little redness on my penile shaft, sort of like a small dry area around the middle of the shaft. It doesn't hurt or irritate or itch. It's just red there, but it might be normal who knows?
I had itching, low fever and weakness.
===========
I had itching all over the body lasted more than 2 weeks now its disappeared.
Low fever up to 99 F feel till today.
Weak and exhausted almost everyday during day time till today.
===============
I having feel weak like I have a fever and when i check my temperature most of the time it stays on 98.6 and sometimes in day it goes upto 99F but come back to 98.6 or below in 1 hour or less. But I feel weak and exhausted most of the time during day and not able to do any work.... just thinking about when I am going to get rid of this problem... and having this almost everyday till today from 2 weeks after exposure....
Did you have diarrhea, loss of appetite, low fever, chest rash, groin pain, red spots near groin and butt, extreme nerve pains, muscle aches, and dry mouth? I'm thinking I have way too much of everything, and for me, it only points to ARS. I have a hard time believing that this is due to anxiety, because most symptoms went away even while I'm still extremely anxious.
Your test result will be negative for sure. I am also in same kind of situation like yours.
I had oral sex on Dec 12, 2013.
Almost after 2 week I started feeling weak.
On Dec 30, 2013 fever for 2 days upto 100 which came down after taking tylenol. Itching all over the body for more than 2 weeks.
Jan 1, 2014 to till today I am feeling weak as we feel when we have fever.
My body temperature goes up to 99F 2-3 times in a during day time and then come back again (within half or 1 hour at its own) to normal between 98.2. to 98.6.
I tested negative 7 weeks after exposure on Feb 1st 2014.
I am also suffering from extreme anxiety and stress due to this HIV fear. I tested for other things as well but couldn't find the cause of this illness...
Something strange is going on, because I am still feeling very tense and anxious, but most of the symptoms have gone away besides some mild muscle pain here and there around my whole body. If some symptoms are going away, then that must mean something is going on with me, since my high anxiety should still be causing me the same problems. All of a sudden I am now feeling off and on prickly feelings in my pubic area. I did not shave and haven't shaved there for about a year. I'm so scared that the HIV will test positive on Monday. It's a 54 day test after exposure, so just 2 days away from the 8 week mark. I am almost ready to hear them say it's positive.
I've just gotten my blood taken out this morning. The test is checking for HIV, syphilis, CBC, TSH, and some other thing. I'll be receiving the results on Monday. I'm so scared, I just keep pointing all my symptoms to HIV and herpes. I know the risk was low, maybe high for herpes, but the timing and types of symptoms I have just fits HIV so well. I've been eating the same foods as the people around me, been around the same places, so it's very hard for me to just believe I caught something else less frightening.
By the way, the results may not come in until Friday or Monday, since they send it out to the lab. I'm only getting the blood pulled out tomorrow and they told me I shouldn't eat 12 hours before.
School doctor as in college health doctor, and not a clinician. I have seen the registered nurse also, who seemed very knowledgeable in this area.
It is a school doctor, who is pretty much my "family" doctor now. She's been working for many years related to std's and other infections. She seems trustworthy, but when it comes to skin or nerve problems, I might have to ask her to refer me to a dermatologist or neurologist for that. What do you think?
You didn't answer the question about the doctor, are you seeing your family doctor or going to a clinic for testing? If the latter, you need to make an appt with your doc also, to get the ball rolling on anxiety treatment.
Your test will be negative, I'll look for you to post the results tomorrow.
I changed my appointment for the blood test from Friday morning to Wednesday tomorrow morning. This would be 2 days before the 8 week mark, which I guess you could still consider as 8 weeks. I cannot wait any longer. I've read on other places that some people still don't test positive until 3 to 6 months after a possible exposure, but I guess a 8 week result would be more encouraging to hear at this time.
I've experienced so many of the symptoms that other people went through who tested positive on other forums. I can only think of the worst, but I'll update when the results are in.
Where are you going for your blood tests on Friday? If not your family doctor, then I wouldn't bother. At this point, you need to prioritize seeing your doctor for a comprehensive physical to see if a cause can be nailed down for your symptoms, versus continuing to test for STDs you have convinced yourself that you have. Your doctor can include the STD testing in his/her work-up. You have tunnel vision about your symptoms that seeking out a clinic for more STD testing isn't going to give you anymore answers, especially if the symptoms aren't STD related (which I would bet on).
Call your doctor NOW, explain what's going on, and explain how you're emotionally in crisis with your anxiety. Quite frankly, you need to *bleep* or get off the pot, if you know what I mean? You're just repeating all of your fears and all of the details, and thinking yourself into a state of panic, when there is a much more logical and reasonable approach....a visit with your doctor, because at this point you want to not only address the symptoms, but your anxiety needs addressed as well. Time to get proactive about resolving this instead of preparing for your demise.
Come back and update us when you've talked to your doctor.
My next blood test is on Friday and I'm not just checking for HIV. I don't know what else they will check for, but I've been having zero patience and am constantly worried about the risk I put myself through. I did have a high herpes risk due to the vaginal contact all over my body, and I thought I had a close to zero risk for HIV, but I developed so many ars type of symptoms. I'm so scared and fear for my life almost every minute of every day
There could be a lot of explanations for your symptoms, you cannot self diagnose yourself by reading on the internet. Why aren't you going to the doctor? That would be a logical way to get you some answers rather than you continuing to chase your tail and make assumptions?
I've seen a lot of doctor responses about full body nerve pain related to herpes but they say that's only the case if it's shingles. But I've seen many peoples responses who have genital herpes and say they have full body nerve pains even without an outbreak or after their primary outbreak and not as a prodrome. I don't know what's true and what's not. Whatever it is, something is definitely going on with me.
