Rivotril

Hey me again. Im feeling like im always asking questions hope you dont mind.  I went and saw the psycologist today for the first time and had a great session. Hes sending me for all the usual blood works and an ecg wanted to sent me for a head scan but said it was very rare for this to be a tumour and decided best not to as it might cause me more panic.  Anyway he has taken me off the xanax that the doctor prescribed me and put me on to 500 microgram of Rivotril to be taken morning and night. He said it has an instant effect and a longer lasting effect than the xanax. Anyone else on this medication and if so are you having any side effects as in dizzyness etc......

I am also taking Klonopin or Rivitrol for anxiety, panic attacks, heart palpitations etc and it works great for me.  My doctor had prescribed a low dose of Xanax before and I did not feel it helped at all. I feel the Klonopin helps much better and seems to work immediatley on me. It does make me a little sleepy but that is worth it to me.  It stops my palpitations right away and I do not panic about it any longer.

Welcome to the club! lol  I just started clonazapam Friday evening and so far so good.  I even went out shopping yesterday with my husband and daughter which is something I would have avoided in the past especially on a Saturday when the place is usually packed.  I really surprised myself!  For the last couple of weeks I have been sticking very close to home and now, only after one complete day of taking the meds. I feel more confident that I won't have a panic attack if I leave my house.  I am experiencing some unsteadiness but much less than I had anticipated.  All in all, I'm feeling pretty positive.  I'm starting to feel the freedom, I don't want to be too optimistic yet, but this is a very nice mindset.

Hey! This place is all about the questions, so fear not. And I've got a question 4 U. Why not fill in your profile info and become a full-fledged member of our happy littel family. Besides which, you very probably know stuff to answer the questions of others.

Sounds to me like your treatment is right-on. Be aware the the meds can be very good and taking the fire out of panic -it is the therapy that can really put the fire out.

Glad you are here.

Most medications that are takin for the first time usually give side effects like dizzeness, sleepiness, hunger etc. you will generally go through this no more than a week or so but after that it gets better I just have to get use your body and your body has to also get use to it. Dont worry you will be alright!!

You are definitely NOT going crazy.  Whenever one switches meds, it can cause some symptoms both physical and mental in my opinion.  Generally, we are already nervous about switching, so we tend to exacerbate any symptoms because we are on 'heightened alert.'  Remember panic can ebb and flow a little bit...just keep in touch with your doc and I stress paitence whenever treatment is changed...I know it can be difficult but you will get through it...keep us posted!

How does an old post like this get back to the top of the forum? Two years old. And there it was sitting at the top of the pile. Before I made this post. Just curious.
