Ryan - please help me in my final xanax withdrawal

Ryan,
I'm in the final phases of weaning off xanax - I found your post:

"Once stabilized on 0.125 mg, q.i.d., a trial taper of 0.125 mg every four weeks could be attempted, starting with the evening dose. From there, you could alternate between the afternoon, morning, and night dosages until it is discontinued. "

I understand discontinuing the evening dose. What do you mean between alternating among the doses? Once I drop the evening dose, wait 4 weeks, should I then drop the late afternoon dose? Then, wait 4 weeks and then drop my late morning dose, etc.? I don't understand this alternation pattern - how does this help?

How do you feel about breaking the .125. into 1/2 and taking that q.i.d.?
I value your opinion very much - and I don't want to replace the xanax with anything else now, since I have to tackle my Ambien 10 mg. next.

Also, I've weaned off xanax twice before in the past, but this is the first time that I've stayed on it for close to a year, on progressively lower doses as I've been slowly weaning down since Oct.
I know that you're super busy right now, so I greatly appreciate your time...
