Sensitive

Just curious if others on here find they are highly sensitive people and that is a big part of what triggers the anxiety. I mean, I am affected more by smells, sounds, etc, than almost everyone I know......and I think it also has a lot to do with how secure I did or didn't feel as a child. I mean, my son has many similar traits, but he's learned to express himself and doesn't have the anxiety I did at his age from holding stuff in.

Make sense?

I am a highly sensitive person . I can read an old note or birthday card and it will trigger off memmories that make me cry. I dont like noise unless I'm alone and some smell nausiate me. I was also very sensitive as a child. Now I am probably addicted to medication. But when I get a severe panic attack my palms swet and I feel totally out of control. I feel like running around the block a few times which is'nt reasonable since I have my anxiety at night and I don't dare go out in the dark so I just pace around the house until it passes. Then there are time when I just want to be alone.

AM I NUTS OR WHAT????

I can't remember which came first... the anxiety, or oversensitivity??  But one thing's for certain, they do go hand in hand!

Your welcome. I actually made the connection with the help of my therapist and started reading the highly sensitive person. It is the first psychology book I ever picked up that I felt really made sense and fit me. I also know a lot of my anxiety stems from abuse issues, added to the sensitiveness.

I have to read that book then - because (without giving a life history! lol!) have abuse issues as a child- can you give me the name of that book?
I have seen a therapist in the past, but the connections never occured to me!  thanks once again Peachycat!  Have a great day!
